Madikwe - 1

Nous sommes partis passer le week end à Madikwe Game Reserve, au nord ouest, tout près de la frontière avec le Botswana. / We went to spend the weekend in Madikwe, north west of South Africa, very close to the border with Botswana.

Madikwe est une réserve qui fait le double à peu près du Pilanesberg en taille, mais où on ne peut pas aller à la journée et on ne peut pas non plus se promener en voiture comme on peut le faire au Pilanesberg ou dans le Kruger. On est obligé de faire des game drives (= safari) dans un 4x4 avec des rangers. / Madikwe is almost twice as big as the Pilanesberg Reserve, but you can't go there as day-visitor as you can in other reserves and you can't even do game drives on your own. You have to go on game drives with the rangers.

Comme nous sommes en basse saison, nous avons pu nous offrir un superbe lodge - ambiance out of africa garantie!! Feu de cheminée dans la chambre le soir, énorme baignoire, lit gigantesque, ... c'était sublime!!! / As we are in low season, we've been able to afford a stunning lodge!! Fire in the fireplace in the room at night, huge bath, king size bed, ... it was wonderful!!!

Et regardez qui on pouvait voir passer juste devant la piscine... / and look who came walking just in front of the swimming pool...

Juste devant le lodge, il y avait en effet un point d'eau où les animaux pouvaient venir boire / Just right next to the lodge, there was some puddle where the animals could come and drink:

La réserve était elle aussi magnifique. Voici les paysages dans lesquels nous avons vécu pendant ce week-end inoubliable avec la magnifique lumière du soir ou de l'aube / The reserve was also stunning. Here are some of the landscapes with the golden sunset or sunrise light:
