Rhino
We saw funny rhinos last weekend in a game reserve...
vous ne remarquez rien? / Don't you notice anything?
là, c'est plus évident, non? / There, you can't miss it, can you?
oui, oui, ils ont la corne coupée!!! / Yessss! The horn has been cut off!!!
Explication
There's a simple explanation for this: poachers fly over the game reserves in a plane or helicopter, they spot the rhinos, come back at night, in a helicopter or cutting the fences; they kill the rhinos, saw their horns off, and go away. A rhino horn can reach R70000, that is €7000 for 5cm of horn, if I got what the rangers said right. And all that for some dubious medicinal or aphrodisiac properties....
As a consequence, in order to avoid this, the rangers put the rhinos to sleep, cut their horn off (it's totally painless, like cutting your nails, and they grow back, just like nails), and this way they may live longer. The horns are eventually burnt so as not to encourage trafficking.
