Maroc / Morocco (2) Incroyable!! / Incredible!!

Savez vous sur quoi je suis tombée en me promenant au hasard des rues bleues de la ville de Chefchaouen?
And do you know what I saw in Chefchaouen (a town in the north of Morocco)?

Sur cette ruelle bleue, comme toutes les autres ruelles de Chefchaouen.
Mais qu'a-t-elle donc de si spécial vous demandez-vous...
I saw this blue alley, similar to all the blue streets in Chefchaouen.
So why is it so special, you must wonder...

Eh bien c'est le premier tableau acrylique que j'ai fait dans l'atelier de Marie Alimi il y a plus de 10 ans!!!!! J'avais pris une photo d'un magazine de voyage, et je ne me rappelais absolument plus que c'était au Maroc, encore moins à Chefchaouen.
Well, it's the first acrylic painting I did in Marie Alimi's studio more than 10 years ago!!!!! I had chosen this photo from a magazine, not remembering it was a photo taken in Morocco.

le rideau existe bien toujours, sauf qu'il ne voletait pas le jour où j'ai pris la photo, et vous remarquerez les tuiles que j'avais choisi de ne pas représenter au dessus de la porte de gauche (par peur de tout rater certainement).
the curtain is still there, although it was not billowing in the breeze when I took the photo, and you'll notice that I had chosen not to paint the tiles on top of the door on the left (scared to mess it all up).

On notera aussi que j'avais rendu les murs plus blancs qu'ils ne le sont en réalité. Soit ils étaient effectivement plus blancs il y a 10 ans, soit j'avais douté de ce bleu, pensant que le photographe d'alors avait un peu trop forcé sur les filtres... 
You'll also notice that I had painted the walls whiter than they really are. Either they were indeed whiter 10 years ago, or I may have doubted at the time that the walls were really that blue, maybe thinking the photographer had used filters or something... 

Eh non, les murs sont réellement et naturellement bleus à Chefchaouen grâce à ce pigment bleu qu'ils mêlent à la peinture
Well no, the walls are truly and naturally blue in Chefchaouen thanks to this blue pigment they mix to the paint they use

et dont ils badigeonnent les murs,
they use it on walls,

les murs et les portes...
 walls and doors...

quelle palette!! / check the colours!!

les marches et escaliers sont aussi peints,
steps and stairs are also painted,

en gros ils peignent tout ce qui leur tombe sous la main!
basically they paint anything that takes their fancy!

il y en a qui se fondent avec bonheur dans ce décor bleu
some manage to happily blend into this blue background

et d'autres arrivent à échapper au coup de peinture, ... mais de peu! ;-)
others barely manage to escape a blue touch! ;-)

Cela fait même parfois bizarre, on a l'impression que nos yeux nous jouent des tours tellement tout est bleu, comme dans cette rue si spéciale à mes yeux
There's so much blue everywhere that it's sometimes weird, you feel your eyes have a problem, just like this street that's so special to me

Et que dire du hasard qui a poussé mes pas jusqu'à elle que j'aurais pu rater 1000 fois?
And what are the odds of finding it? I could have missed it a 1000 times!!

Formidable ton reportage et surtout cette histoire de rue peinte il y a longtemps. Et le hasard qui t'a menée là ! Un vrai bonheur ! Quelle émotion extraordinaire tu as dû ressentir !

C'est étonnant et tu ne m'en voudras pas si j'ai mis de coté quelques photos pour les travailler un jour. Te voici respirant dans ton aquarelle... étonnant !



Nos enfants, lors de leur tour du monde, nous ont fait découvrir également au Pérou un monastère tout de bleu ou de rouge orangé, (sûrement les mêmes piments) et j'ai souvent travaillé leurs photos en aquarelle ou à l'huile. Voici leur référence :
